Discover the art prints of Mary Vaux Walcott, renowned for her exceptionally delicate botanical watercolors. Bring floral poetry and timeless elegance of North American wild flora into your home.
This collection brings together reproductions of Mary Vaux Walcott’s botanical watercolours (1860–1940). The American artist studied and painted wildflowers from North America, particularly during stays in the Canadian Rockies. Her compositions generally isolate the plant against a light background, making its silhouette, leaves and flowers easy to see.
Mary Vaux Walcott combined fieldwork, botanical observation and painting. The Smithsonian American Art Museum states that she produced hundreds of studies of native flowers. A selection of four hundred illustrations was published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1925 in the five-volume work North American Wild Flowers.
The Artem Legrand catalogue allows you to explore these plates by species, shape and colour. Zinnia (Zinnia grandiflora) presents a compact flower, while Yucca (Yucca baileyi) develops a more expansive vertical structure.
Yellows, whites, pinks, blues and violets make it easy to create a botanical grouping. Yellow violet (Viola orbiculata) can be paired with Yellow lady’s-slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum) to create colour continuity without repeating the same silhouette.
Other plates highlight the foliage and the plant’s overall habit. Cordon magnolia (Magnolia cordata) and Wood lily (Lilium philadelphicum) offer two compositions suited to a wall devoted to wildflowers.
A single plate suits a narrow space, office or bedside table. For a broader arrangement, several species can be grouped by colour, visual family or format. A set of three to six images allows you to vary stem heights, leaf shapes and flower volumes while keeping the light background as a common element.
To avoid repetition, the collection sometimes includes several similar listings devoted to the same species or to different parts of the plant. Check the title and image of each listing before making your selection.
For the poster option, the print is offered on 140 g paper with HD rendering at 150 DPI, preserving crisp details and legible colours both up close and from a distance. Dimensions, canvas and framing options vary according to the artwork, format and intended use. The options actually available are shown on each product page.
