Carlo Dolci frames Christ’s face in close-up, with raised eyes and parted lips. Soft light gathers on the forehead and gaze, while the dark background and blue mantle intensify the expression. Neither a garden nor the disciples appear: the biblical subject is condensed into a devotional portrait.

The National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen holds this painting under the Danish title Kristus i Gethsemane. The museum dates it to 1631–1686 and records it as oil on canvas, 47 × 38 cm, inventory number KMSsp48.
