Brazilian Rainforest, a watercolour from around 1868
Adolf Schrödter painted Brazilian Rainforest (Brasilianischer Urwald) around 1868. This 108 × 90 cm watercolour, held by the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe under inventory number 695, presents a densely layered tropical landscape.
Palms, lianas, ferns and parrots
Deep shades of green bring together palms, lianas, ferns and orchids. Trunks, leaves and openings of light give the composition its depth. Two parrots in the upper-right corner add a discreet animal presence amid the abundant vegetation.
An imagined forest by Adolf Schrödter
Schrödter never travelled to South America. A keen visitor of gardens and greenhouses, he created a subjective, idealised vision of the Brazilian forest as an untouched paradise. The art print retains this luxuriant atmosphere and works especially well in botanical or nineteenth-century-inspired interiors.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
