A pictorial walk in the Garden of the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg
The composition invites leisurely strolling: shaded paths, well-maintained flowerbeds, and perspectives opening towards the horizon, rendered in a subtle palette of greens, ochres, and blues. The brushwork, both precise and delicate, captures the play of light on the foliage and the reflections in the pathways, creating an atmosphere that is both serene and lively. Architectural elements in the background frame the scene and emphasize the academic rigor of the landscape. This artwork immediately transports the viewer to the heart of a historic garden, between urban calm and landscape elegance.
Jan Cigliski, master of landscape elegance
Jan Cigliski stands out for his academic approach to landscape, where attention to detail meets sensitivity to atmosphere and light. Influenced by European traditions of urban landscape, he composes harmonious views where the geometry of flowerbeds dialogues with the spontaneity of foliage. His work reflects technical mastery applied to civic and scenic subjects, offering scenes that evoke both memory and everyday life. Through precise drawing and subtle coloring, Cigliski places his views within an artistic continuity that highlights the visual heritage of historic gardens.
