Discover the story behind this artwork
This vertical illustration shows a grey-and-white cat asleep in a pale basket. With closed eyes, its head resting on one paw and its front legs relaxed over the edge, the animal occupies the lower centre of the composition.
Behind it, a wooden bookcase holds books with beige, orange, grey and green covers. Vases of flowers complete the shelves. A large floral pattern in orange, yellow and grey spreads across the curtain and several textiles. In the foreground are a wicker basket, a stack of books and a pair of glasses. This contemporary work is presented without an unverified artist attribution.
