Discover the story behind this artwork
This contemporary travel illustration depicts Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Canada. Turquoise water fills the centre of the composition and reflects rocky, snow-streaked peaks. Dark conifers and foreground rocks frame the view from both sides.
The stylised mountains evoke the Valley of the Ten Peaks, which surrounds the lake in the Canadian Rockies. The design uses flat areas of blue, cream, brown and dark green, with simplified clouds and strong contrasts inspired by retro travel posters. The words “LAC MORAINE – CANADA” appear below the image. No artist, creation date or original historic poster has been documented for this contemporary design.
