Napoleon at Waterloo [18 June 1815] is an oil painting attributed to Denis-Auguste-Marie Raffet. Museo Soumaya, which holds the work, dates it to the first third of the 19th century. The canvas measures 63.5 × 115 cm.
Napoleon rides a white horse at the centre among cavalrymen, fallen soldiers and bodies on the battlefield. To the right, a dark mass of troops stands against smoke and the glow of combat. The museum relates this dramatic vision to the tradition of large Napoleonic battle scenes and notes that the burned bodies helped identify the episode as Waterloo. Because the museum qualifies the attribution, this notice does the same.
