Mark Gertler, master of the modern gaze
Mark Gertler, a major figure in the British art scene of the early 20th century, managed to blend a personal pictorial sensitivity with post-impressionist and expressionist influences. His work demonstrates an interest in the human body as a central subject, treated with a keen sense of volume and composition. Renowned for his portraits and nudes, Gertler marked his era with an artistic intensity and formal freedom that bring his work closer to that of his European contemporaries while asserting a unique identity. This art print of the Nude is a faithful reinterpretation of his visual vocabulary, true to the textures and original palette.
