About Persimmons on a Plate
Persimmons on a Plate is a Japanese woodblock print by Kubo Shunman, dated to the 19th century and the Edo period. The Metropolitan Museum of Art catalogues it as a surimono printed in ink and colour on paper. The sheet measures 20.6 × 17.9 cm and is numbered JP2120.
Fruit, knife and calligraphy
A whole persimmon and cut pieces of fruit rest in a rectangular dish decorated in blue. A long knife crosses the composition diagonally; a green leaf and curling peel complete the still life. Several lines of writing fill the upper part of the sheet.
A surimono in restrained colours
The brown handle, orange fruit, green leaf and blue decoration stand against the pale paper. The knife’s diagonal connects the food to the inscriptions and structures the small, nearly square format. The title, artist, period, medium, dimensions and object number are documented by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Our frames measure 1.7 cm on each side. For a 40x60 cm painting, the total framed size is therefore 43.4 x 63.4 cm.
Canvas 100% polyester (285 g/m²), UV-resistant and solvent-free inks, safe for children and allergy sufferers. The canvases are mounted on a 2 cm thick wooden frame (4 cm for very large formats).
