Discover the story behind this artwork
This reproduction presents the anonymous wartime poster Straight to the Point – Zinc!. A worker wearing protective goggles pours molten metal into a mould, while a monumental artillery shell cuts diagonally across the composition. The slogan turns “point” into a visual pun, referring both to directness and to the projectile’s pointed tip.
A restricted palette of black, cream and red gives the design its force. Radiating lines visually connect foundry work with military production, while large condensed lettering dominates the image. The consulted catalogue does not identify an artist, country or precise date, so this description does not assign any of those details.
