Discover the story behind this artwork
Give your walls a fragment of history with this vintage Cherbourg poster, created for the 4th Trade Fair of 1932, a flagship event of the Norman port.
The visual features an old sailor sitting in his boat, with a proud and direct gaze, with the docks of Cherbourg in the background. The whole scene is bathed in a soft, silvery late afternoon light. This poster combines pictorial realism with a strong event message: a tribute to maritime culture and port life, at the heart of industrial Normandy in the 1930s.
A art print between tradition, sea, and working-class memory
This vintage advertising poster captures both the strength of the character and the poetry of the ports of the time. It symbolizes the link between trade fairs, showcases of local know-how, and the emblematic figures of the coastline. Its sober and powerful style makes it a decorative piece as full of emotion as it is of history.
Ideal for marine decoration, a vintage office, a public space, or a cultural venue inspired by working-class and maritime heritage.
