Discover the story behind this artwork
The vintage poster La Police Parisienne advertises a publication by G. Macé, identified in the design as a former head of the Police de Sûreté. Its large title fills the upper section in cream lettering with orange accents against a dark background.
At the centre, a blindfolded female figure overlooks an urban scene made up of buildings, vehicles and numerous characters. The lower register gathers a crowd of faces, hats and silhouettes, while the words “10 c la livraison” appear on the right. Black, grey and cream tones reinforce the dramatic effect of this densely illustrated composition.
This reproduction can suit a library, study or interior devoted to historic Paris, publishing history and illustrated advertising. Its vertical format also allows it to be paired with other period posters and printed documents.
